All grown up...

[Half a step ago, this Edward was walking along the streets of Central, on his way to Gracia's house. When his foot hits the pavement, he is still walking along the streets of Central...but those streets have changed, and something is very wrong.]

[Startled, then alarmed, he looks left and right, turns in a circle, darts down an alley that didn't exist a second ago to search there. He's recognizably Edward Elric, but older, in his mid-twenties at least, with the strong jaw and broad shoulders of a young man. And he's tall. There's no dodging the fact, even as his shoulders hunch and his golden eyes start to flash with fear. Spotting the nearest passerby, he shouts with a note of panicky fury in his voice:]

Where the hell are my kids?!

*has to laugh a little at that* I guess I will be seeing that face of his eventually, once we're all outta here! That bastard shouldn't underestimate us so much. He deserves what he gets.

We were talking to that creepy bastard with the glasses, the guy who raised all the fuhrer candidates. And then suddenly I got pulled somewhere else, and...

*shrugs, spreading his hands* That's the last I remember of that.

Uh... [Is it safe to tell this kid things? What if he screws up the space-time continuum or something? Ed doesn't know much about parallel universe theory, it wasn't really his ouevre, but as rotten as some of what happened was, it all worked out more or less well in the end.]

[He is, however, inadvertently DD:ing like crazy while he ponders this.]

*shifts uncomfortably upon seeing that look on his face* I'm gonna take a wild guess and figure I don't wanna know what's waiting for me when I head back.

*rubs at the back of his neck, a little awkwardly, as he looks up at him* How long's it been since all that for you?

[He opens his mouth to answer...then shuts it again, startled.]

Uh...almost ten years. [He mirrors the neck-rub gesture without realizing it.] Hunh. Damn. Has it really been that long?

*suddenly has lots of questions that he knows he shouldn't ask, and he seems to be struggling with himself over it*

Yeah. It's had its rough patches, but...yeah. If the world worked that way, I'd say we earned it.
